![]() ![]() ![]() The nice part about this is that you can continue to use the pack and play as they grow and when you travel. However, we chose to use a pack and play with a bassinet insert for those 4 months in our room. Some sources say to keep them in there for a year but we felt comfortable at 4 months and welcomed the change. We chose to keep Connor in our room for 4 months. You will likely need to take measurements of your windows to make sure they will fully cover the window because believe me, less light = more sleep. Highly recommend getting black out curtains for the nursery (and also your room if your baby will sleep in there.) We got these for our room and these for Connor’s room. I love the chair and have spent a TON of hours in it nursing Connor so it is well used and loved. We don’t use the reclining feature and instead use this ottoman. I went and sat in it in the store and loved it. ![]() I hemmed and hawed over this for a while but since we were getting the other furniture from Target we landed on this one too. We used the covers for when he was younger and would have blowouts, now we just use the pad as-is. Once he could roll and move, we moved it to the floor. We had it anchored to the top of the dresser until Connor became wigglier. We got a changing pad that was waterproof, light and easy to move. We got a dresser to match his crib but you can certainly use any old dresser, just make sure you attach it to the wall for safety reasons. I highly recommend getting at least 2 waterproof mattress pad covers and 2-3 sheets so that way if you have to change them in the middle of the night you’re prepared. You will want a mattress that is JPMA Certified for safe sleep. There are so many options so it will totally depend on preference, size and budget. Crib Mattress + Mattress Pad Cover + Sheets Around 4 months we moved him into his crib in his nursery and has been sleeping there ever since. We used a pack & play (see below) in our room for the first 4 months and the crib lay vacant. We love it so far and at 11 months he is finally on the lowest setting so he can’t climb out. We decided on a convertible crib so that it can grow with him. He didn’t sleep in here until after he was 4 months but I nursed him in the nursery every night as it was a nice, dark and calm environment for us all. It was so fun to set up the nursery before Connor arrived but we have rearranged a few times since he was born to adjust to his and our needs. Ask around, look for sales in your area or even join a Buy Nothing group on Facebook to find gently used or new items. Hand me downs are amazing too by the way! Most of our clothes are hand me downs and we absolutely love that because they grow so dang fast. Remember, you certainly don’t need all of these items but these are what we have used and liked over the past year. ![]() For us, Amazon was it.īelow you will see my top picks broken up into sections. I would recommend using the registry that feels best to you and makes your life easiest. We loved using Amazon for our registry but there are tons of options out there. If you unbox it and set it up, you can take care of it before you’re sleep deprived. You want to set them up because it’s easier to do when you don’t have a newborn and you want to make sure nothing is missing and/or broken which we had a few things like this. The nice thing is that the return window is pretty long so if you find you aren’t using something or need a replacement you have time to return/replace.įrom experience, I recommend setting things up but saving tags, boxes & receipts. We also used Target Registry to buy our furniture through (because you get a discount for using them). We used Amazon as our main baby registry. Everyone is different, every baby is different and that’s ok. You may find that you end up loving some things and not needing others. Much of what you will see below is what makes life easier and what we personally use and like. Here’s the thing, you don’t need much when you bring baby home, some clothes, some diapers, some wipes and a place for them to sleep. This is your baby registry checklist from a first time mom who is almost 1 year in. Anyway, so many friends and followers have asked me what my top items are so I figured I’d share with you our most used and loved items and what I wish was on our registry from day one. You can truly read as much as you want but until you’re in it you don’t know what you will really need. We are almost a year into this first time parent thing and I feel WAY more confident in creating a registry than I did a year ago. ![]()
